sixteen.

I went to visit my grandmum today at the home she so stubbornly wanted to be in… There’s this old lady there, who is 90-ish and has both Parkinson and Alzheimer’s disease, who when she sees me comes close and gives me her hand… I never heard her talk, even though I asked her a few meaningless things, so I always thought she couldn’t, or wouldn’t… but today, there was this person who works there having a cup of hot chocolate. She pointed to the cup as if asking for it and so she drank the hot chocolate and with a big smile on her face exclaimed “It’s SOOOO GOOD!” ! I couldn’t help but smile and feel a bit happy for her.

keoshi was cleaning up his books and found this one book that I lent him ages ago. I bought that book in Amsterdam and it was the first and only book so far that is meant to be an instructions book on how to color manga drawings and succeeds in doing it well and manages to stay true of what manga really is.

No, it’s not a book on how to draw manga, it’s a book on how to color it.

The book is amazing and of course it is originally japanese…otherwhise there’d be awful “manga” characters splattered on the cover…

Manga has a certain deepness to it. You can’t just learn *how* to draw it. You must have a profound knowledge of what you’re drawing.

You can draw a glass of water, just be sure to know that glass of water in and out.

It pains my poor soul to see all those “how to draw manga” books on the shelves of bookstores everywhere…

You can draw lookalikes of Naruto or SonGoku all you want, but if you don’t know who or what they are, don’t call it manga…

I know I may sound like I’m over reacting, but I always felt that was the secret to drawing good manga…

Or maybe that’s just me! It could be.
My heart will always be connected to manga & anime. All the characters, all the stories made me learn so so much. I’m an only child, so I’d spend a huge amount of time by myself, watching tv, mainly anime, and drawing. And sometimes I find myself thinking how did I know how to distinguish anime (that was so rare in our channels) from everything else! But I did! Of course I watched loads of other things that weren’t anime, but my favorites were always anime.

This was a huge rant. Sorry. ahaha
