goodbye august.

Well hello lovely people! Hisashiburi ne, which means, long time no see!

No, not to worry, I will not throw in much Japanese expressions, even though I want to and still bow every time I greet someone or say thank you ,— it’s becoming as ridiculous as waiting for the green light to cross an empty street — and search the streets for vending machines when I’m thirsty; that’s how much impact 19 days in Japan had on me… and if only it was just that…! But I don’t want to go further into that, because that’s something I will talk about in 19 Days in Japan, which is still very much alive, without an expiration date, so please, keep on check it out because a lot more surprises are coming, as well as the last few days of our trip.

Ever since coming back I’ve been focused on doing something I know how to do best: nothing. No, that’s not entirely true, I’ve done loads of things but nothing tiring or out of the ordinary.

Saying that I loved this place sounds just so...underwhelming. It was so much more than that.

I focused on overcoming jetlag that hit me like a little bitch when we got back to Portugal — the other way around was actually fine —, so I’d go to bed as late as 11 pm, if I could handle being wake by then, and would woke up invariably at 6.30 am, everyday, which gave me a lot of time to go through a few books — Murakami’s Norwegian Wood and The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle (now I only got left Pinball, 1973South of the Border, West of the Sun and the 1Q84 trilogy, YAY); Martel’s Life of Pi, Sakyong Mipham’s Running With the Mind of Meditation

And I’ve tried, yet again, Fifty Shades of Grey, but man… I cannot do it. It just bores me out of my mind. (I would like to be able to actually manage through the first couple of chapters to bring out a full review, but I can’t, so what I about to say may be unfair…but that’s my opinion of what I read so far) The writing is confusing and reminds me of anime fanfictions I used to read as a teenager; the main character needs to grow a pair and is just so insanely naive that I just want to punch her in the face; and the male character is just…abusive? I can’t find a good thing about the male main character; and the whole female submission subject just makes me sick… I don’t think I will ever be able to try  and read the entire book, but when and if I do, I’ll write my thoughts on it, for now it’s just…*shudder*.

Aside from books, I’ve gone to the beach and got a nice tan going on, and watched series while conjuring up theories for their endings (Dexter has been a favourite on this matter, I think the writers need help from us, really).

Aaaaaand that’s about it!

This week I’m preparing classes and everything else because next week it’s full on, baby! And another year is about to start… let it come. Let it come.

Sleepy head!

I only brought 4 manga titles with me, even though I wanted them all. But when I went in the stores I was too busy squealing like a little girl at every sight of so much manga...I couldn't bring myself to chose.

thank you so much for your lovely warm comment! you have a beautiful, beautiful blog 🙂
your room seems incredible, that window near the bed with that large view… kinda scaring because of the highness, but so impressive!
also, i just can’t go with 50 shades of gray. i tried once with a friend’s book but it’s just so much of the same that turns up incredibly tiring. there’s better literature out there. puah.

  3. Babe esse livro da meditação é bom? Beijos.

      Acho que ias gostar!
