Japan day 3 – Osaka to Kyoto

As wonderful as it felt to just be back in Japan, it felt even better to know we’d be back to Kyoto. Japan is a whole second home away from home, but Kyoto… Kyoto is my soul city. I’ll never forget the wonderfulness of riding a bike around Kyoto for the first time. It felt like there was a continuous (japanese) song in my head and all I did was enjoy my surroundings, feeling grounded.

On day 3 in the morning, we said goodbye to our Osaka airbnb and hopped on Shinkansen to Kyoto, never forgetting food goodies from the station, that we munched in the train.

Some time later we arrived to Kyoto station. Our place in Kyoto would only let us check in at 2PM (if I remember correctly) and the heat in the city is unbearable, so we decided to stay in the station and get lost a bit. The train stations in Japan are entire ecosystems, and they are really big. So one definitely can get lost in there.

We took a look at shops and bookstores and at lunch time we went in a tempura restaurant. The food was delicious. We then grabbed donuts and iced coffee and lattes and out we went into the sun to checkin.

From the hotel front desk we were driven to our Kyoto little house. The house was IN-CRE-DI-BLE. It was a tiny, two floor wooden house that just immediately took me to my japanese-culture-infused childhood (aka manga and anime).

We got dinner from the nearest FamilyMart, after walking around our new neighbourhood, and feeling all the Kyoto vibes. After dinner, we out again because there was a park very close to our place, where we had promised the girls to visit.

We then unfolded our futons on our bedroom’s tatami and had a most wonderful night of sleep.
