Back in our Spring break we flew to the United States of America, California, landing in San Francisco airport for a small week around the area.

After about 11 hours on the plane, and it was still only 2 in the afternoon when we arrived. We rented a car and drove (4 hours-ish) to Mariposa, where we would stay for only a couple of nights, in Casa Oso. This little house was the cutest thing. In the middle of the mountains, surrounded by greenery, and wild animals (and cats!) and a lake.

We arrived late at night, after having stopped along the way for food. We enjoyed the drive through American soil, as everything is so different from what we’re used to around here in Portugal.

After a well spent night of sleep, accompanied by the toads croaking outside, we got on our car and drove to June Bug cafe for breakfast. I think this was when we first realised we were in a different America. Everything was simpler, at a different pace than the big cities we had been before and people were nice without being overly so, just because they feel they have to be. Everything felt more genuine to me. Not that the other places, aren’t. But it’s just different. I don’t really know how to explain it. *shrugs*

After our breakfast we made our way to Yosemite National Park. The landscape had been amazing so far, but now things really went up a notch! Mountains that were majestic, their summit so high that there was still snow on top. Green tall trees adorned this view of the mountains, with waterfalls in between. Squirrels running around, and blue jays that were *just* there.

We spent the entire day at the park, exploring the most known areas, and just marvelling at the natural beauties around us. The girls were mesmerised and so were we.

We finished the day eating at 1850 Brewery and then at a local supermarket in Mariposa, were we bought some eggs and bacon for breakfast the next day.
