This summer after my exams I started to read non-stop.
So on the day of my last exam, by the end of july I bought two books. I didn’t even care they were translated to Portuguese, I just wanted to read.
So I read quite a few since that day and I’m already starting a new one – offered to me by keoshi – thanks, Love.
Here they are:
They were all great.
Nicholas Sparks’ “The Last Song” I reluctantly bought with the movie poster cover, the one with Miley Cyrus on and that was a big no-no for me. I couldn’t stop imagining the girl as the main character and since I’m not a big fan of the disney girl it was a disadvantage… Also, (I’m trying not to spoil anything) it reminded of all the bad things that happened to my family not so long ago and it was hard for me to wrap my head around it… but it was still a good book, nonetheless…
The last book, Andronák, was written by a good friend of mine, João Fialho, who has been writing this book for a long time – I actually remember him talking about it and showing us the characters’ drawings and such… – now the book is out and I’m so happy that it all payed off. It’s a great story. Sadly it’s in Portuguese only.
Yesterday while I was reading my new book, ‘Hard-boiled Wonderland and The End of The World’, by the great Haruki Murakami, I suddenly realized I needed a book catalog to keep track of my readings.
After a small research I got down to these:
librarything.com – it’s design bores me… what? Boyfriend is a designer, something has to stick.
shelfari.com – the clear winner for me.
Shelfari is nice and clean with a sleek look that I enjoy. I can have my own private or public bookshelf and share it, I can add friends, I can review a book, choose my edition’s cover and even check a book off as loaned – which is awesome, I know my mum-in-law would like this feature. xD
The various covers and a nice description.
and the ‘loaned to a friend’ check box.
All in all the site is very neat. You can even chose the kind of wood you want for your shelf! xD
keoshi also recommended the getglue.com place.
It’s very nice but not what I wanted for m books. Either way I now have a getglue.com account and I was liking and disliking stuff for quite some time.
Visit both sites and enjoy!
