the colosseum.

Yesterday we slept in. We only left the hotel at around 11am and we walked around until it was lunch time – got a pizza and got an ice cream and walked to the pantheon, and to the famous Trevi fountain. The fountain is huge. Rome has fountains all over, they seem to have a really good healthy relationship with water around here, and I love that, but that fountain was just… Humongous! But beautiful! Incredibly beautiful! We sat for a bit, admiring the surroundings, until we hear the police make a fuss about something… So basically a teenage girl jumped into the fountain, got herself in the middle of it so her grandparents could take a photo. And then she had to go with the police and pay for the little stunt.
After that we headed to the hotel, but since the colosseum is on the way and there weren’t that many people going in we decided to go in. It gives you the chills I can tell you that. It could hold more than 50 thousand people, and you can imagine thousands of people cheering and clapping, watching a man die there in the arena… It’s crazy and unbelievable, but at the same time so incredible. I loved the colosseum.

After that we went to the hotel for a quick shower so we could go out for dinner.
