Japan day 8 — Tokyo day 3

On our third day in Tokyo we continued to have a no-plans agenda. We walked around trying to run away from the heat, as usual and ended up having an early lunch at a ramen place that served cold broth noodles (mine with sea food). Lunch as delicious.

We had promised the girls they could have their turn playing UFO catchers. I admit I was on the fence here. On our first time in Japan we played all the 100 yen coins we could get our hands on these UFO catchers. We got so many little toys, figurines, plushies that we almost couldn’t fit them into our huge luggages. Some we gave away, some we kept and the girls still play with most of them to this day. But a promise is a promise and we went in to the first place we could find (it’s also great to get away from the heat!).

We stayed there quite some time and eventually the girls stopped in front of a catcher with a huge otter stuffed toy. Huge. I was 98% certain they wouldn’t get it. They didn’t…on the first try. The second try Filipe helped them out — and I kept saying: ‘couldn’t it be something smaller?’ I still have very present on my mind that time he told me ‘oh these things are made so nobody can win!’ and then he won a humongous stuffed dog in Dubai (I’m adding a picture – baby for reference) that we had to leave in the hotel.

Back in Tokyo, with the otter conundrum, needless to say, the otter fell onto the correct place and the girls were ecstatic and we carried the otter all the way to Lisbon where it currently resides, quite happily, in our home, and as also been featured in a school exhibition about otters made by Leo. I’m uploading the video here, where you can hear Filipe say ‘it’s not going to work, it’s falling already’ and my shock at the end, that it had indeed worked and we were taking an otter home.

Feeling encouraged by their luck, I tried to win myself a P-Chan and had absolutely zero luck. Balance, I guess?

At Kabukichou we spotted a karaoke place. We had been wanting to try a karaoke place since forever, and we decided it was the best time to do it. We had a blast, the girls had a blast and those were some really nice couple of hours.

After singing (badly, with the exception of Leo) we went to Shimokitazawa. Again, no plans. We walked around this neighbourhood for hours and got lost in it as best we could. It was amazing.
