After our road trip around the mountains we settled in Albany, in the East Bay, located just north of Berkeley along the San Francisco Bay, where our friends lived. We stayed with them for two days, having good food, drinking good beer and enjoying the neighbourhood. The kids had a ton of fun, because they could play with other children their age for a change during a trip, and that was very heartwarming.

After the second day we went back to the city, to our hotel located in the Japanese neighbourhood of SF, where a summer festival was happening. After some Japanese food we got on a Waymo (we had to take our friends’ mobile because it wouldn’t let us download the app with our Portuguese number) that drove us to Presidio. The girls were completely mesmerised by the self-driving car, and every time, henceforth, they saw a Waymo, they would salute it (don’t ask…).

After dinner in SF, we said good bye to our friends and headed to our hotel. The day after would be our last full day in the city and we tried to enjoy it to the max. We ate at a diner, rode on the tram, explored Fisherman’s Wharf, where we spent a lot of quarters on the fun machines at Musée Méchanique, ate amazing clam chowder at Fog Harbor Fish House, and tiny donuts and icecreams. After that we explored the city some more, visiting Chinatown and North beach (the italian neighbourhood). We ended the day with work colleagues at Mission District for dinner, at Burma Love.

This was definitely one of our *top* favourite trips ever.
