spontaneous mix of photos, food and travels — because life isn't meant to be in order

Korea day 8 – Busan

The eight day was totally a photo worthy day…unfortunately I barely took any photos! We had decided to go to the baseball game at the Sajik baseball stadium, home of the Lotte Giants. Now, we are not baseball game fans per say, because we never grew up with baseball around us (I don’t think there’s even one baseball field(?) in Portugal), but I had grown up enjoying mangas featuring baseball by Misturu Adachi. We had once gone to a game in Japan, at the iconic Koshien stadium in Kobe, home of the Hanshin Tigers and it was out of this world amazing. Hanshin Tigers will forever be our baseball team. Because we had had that awesome experience in Japan, we decided to give it a go and do the same in Korea. It did not disappoint. The only issue was buying the tickets! We decided to try to buy them early in the day, but that would imply a whole hour by train just to get there and we didn’t know if there were still any tickets left (yes, we did try to buy them online, trust me). So Keoshi ended up going by himself, while me and girls staying behind and waited. When he came back, the ticket posts were not open yet so it was a completely wasted trip. We almost gave up. But didn’t. We had lunch at Lotte Mall, quite near us, and we headed to the stadium area, where there was also a huge mall, where we got some ice cream and some AC. I think this was the main reason I didn’t take pictures – we spent almost the whole day inside shopping malls!

We did manage to get tickets, so it was time to prepare for the game. This meant going to the supermarket and get some really nice treats. This, my dears, is part of the whole ‘going-to-the-game’ experience!

Once there, we got to our seats, and the girls were immediately loving it. Salty snacks, sweet treats and a great environment overall. We tried something for the first time: drinking beer with a straw! Lotte Giants won the game and we even found one of the main players out on the street signing t-shirts.

It is definitely one of those experiences that is a once in a lifetime opportunity and that I recommend everyone doing, even if you have no idea what baseball is all about.

*You can hear me thanking him in Korean at the end of the video – blame it on the beer with the straw*
